Sewing for Mending

Come learn how to save that favorite piece of clothing!

Learn the basics of hand sewing from a local guide. This class will cover:

  • How to thread using threading aides

  • How to sew a button

  • How to fix a tear

  • Plus a selection of extremely handy tricks to keep the fabric items in your life in one piece longer

Feel free to bring a damaged item to mend in class or practice on supplied material. Thread, needles, threaders, and cloth to practice on will be supplied!

The type of mending covered will be called β€œvisible mending” which both adds interest and strength to the item.

We are looking for vendors who sell hand made or locally grown goods related to homesteading or basic survival skills.

Our focus is on preparing for the future and building a new system outside of larger systems so that we can continue to thrive as the world changes.

We’re looking for vendors who create items that cover basic needs like personal care products, herbal medicine, nourishment, functional, handcrafted items for use in the kitchen and home.

Back to the Basics is a return to community sufficiency. Our emphasis is on homesteading, natural wellness and basic survival skills.

Have a related skill to share?

We’re looking for teachers specializing in canning, knitting, fire making, survival skills, bushcrafting, farming-related classes and more.
